Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
Today we saw Parliament at its best; overcoming political differences for a law that just needs to change.
The Organ Donation (Deemed Consent) Bill passed its second reading in the House of Commons this afternoon – with MPs from across the political spectrum working together to support it.
It is believed that up to 500 lives a year could be saved by changing the rules on organ donation consent in England and I am delighted that the Bill received cross-party backing.
Today we worked together to save lives – this is a day we should be proud of. See more here: http://bbc.in/2CEBTOL
