Today I was delighted to visit Sunderland Carers Centre – where dedicated staff care for the carers who do such amazing work across the city.

In Sunderland over 32,000 people identify themselves as carers – with at least 2,000 of these being children and young people.

It has been estimated that our city’s carers save the economy £706.9million each year. These inspirational people, who do such amazing work, deserve our greatest respect – and support.
