I’m delighted to see that improvement work to the shop/reception area of Sunderland Museum will get underway next Monday – although it means the main entrance will be temporarily closed.

This historic building, home to our much-loved museum, library and Winter Gardens, dates to 1879 and is one of the top five most visited attractions in the North East.

The renovation work will see new lighting, shelving and flooring installed in the reception area – helping to ensure that Sunderland’s past continues to flourish in the future.
