A vote was called on Monday by the Government on the UK’s nuclear deterrent. Julie voted in favour of the motion for retention and renewal which passed by 472 votes to 117.

The renewal of the UK’s nuclear deterrent is Labour Party policy. At the Labour Party Conference last year, the party committed to supporting a continuous-at-sea-deterrent, including the replacement of all four submarines. Moreover, the manifesto that all Labour MPs were elected on in the 2015 General Election explicitly stated that the Labour Party maintained full support for the UK’s nuclear deterrent.
