Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
“I am proud to support Armed Forces Day” – that was the message from Julie as she attended the flag raising ceremony at Sunderland Civic Centre.
Julie added:
“I’m delighted that the Armed Forces Flag will fly alongside the Union Flag today outside the Civic Centre to pay tribute to our armed forces, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families. I look forward to being there at the flag raising ceremony today with colleagues and special guests.
“It is just one way in which we can show our appreciation and support for those in our armed forces and their families, the charities that do so much to assist them, and also raise awareness of events taking place in Sunderland and around the country. Celebrations are taking place this weekend at Recreation Park, opposite The Marriott Hotel, Seaburn.
“Our armed forces do an incredibly difficult and often dangerous job, they do it with distinction and on our behalf. This is our opportunity to come together as a community to say ‘thank you’.”
