Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
This week I joined people from across Sunderland to remember those who have lost their lives at work.
A very moving service was held to mark Workers’ Memorial Day in the courtyard of the Civic Centre on April 28, featuring speeches, a piper and prayers led by Rev Christopher Howson – chaplain for Sunderland University.
It is important that we remember those who have lost their lives at work. Workers’ Memorial Day is a poignant reminder of how people should have the right to feel protected, and safe, at work – proper health and safety procedures are essential.
