Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
Yesterday I stood up during the Queen’s Speech debate on Health and Social Care to make the case for better and more comprehensive Eating Disorder services.
Over a million people in the UK suffer from Eating Disorders, and early intervention is key in preventing the problems from getting worse.
Yet young people are being refused treatment because their weight is not low enough – and then are being put on waiting lists of up to 18 months when they are finally referred.
This isn’t good enough.
