Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
Today I was honoured to lay a wreath during the Workers’ Memorial Day service at Sunderland Civic Centre – to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives at work.
Workers’ Memorial Day is a poignant reminder of how people should have the right to feel protected, and safe, at work – proper health and safety procedures are essential.
It is, however, also a rallying cry to fight for the living and still at risk.
Many of our employment rights and Health & Safety regulations are a legacy of our time in the EU, so it is vital that we make sure these protections remain in place.
