Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
This week I pledged my support for a campaign launched by two Sunderland sisters to give those living with dementia more protection.
Ashley Joachim and Lesley Haswell lost their 75-year-old mum Patricia, who had dementia, in 2017. When I met with them, the heartbreak they had endured was clear to see.
Better care, more funding for training of medical staff and an overhaul of social care, in particular within the care of dementia patients, is urgently needed.
