It was a pleasure to take part in the panel discussion Deeds Not Words: A Century of Women and Politics at Sunderland University last night.

Sunderland’s first female MP, Dr Marion Phillips, was elected in 1929. She worked tirelessly to raise the political consciousness of women – as well as encourage their participation in politics.

Just 100 years ago UK women were unable to vote – now elected women around the world are shaping the political agenda. #Vote100
