Rail station update

Today, as part of my campaign to get Sunderland’s railway station upgraded, I met with members of Network Rail -; including route managing director Rob McIntosh.

I used the visit to point out several areas of concern around the station, as well as discuss ways to progress forward with improvements. Several passers-by and travellers also provided ideas.

It was a very positive meeting. For the first time in a long time I feel as if things are going to happen. We looked at solutions to tackle short-term issues, as well as ways to upgrade the station.

I will continue to press this issue until Sunderland has a station fit for purpose.
