The pressures of winter flu season on the NHS came under discussion when I met Ken Bremner, chief executive of City Hospitals, alongside my colleague Bridget Phillipson MP recently.

A “significant rise” in people seriously affected by flu has been reported over recent weeks, but our dedicated NHS staff are doing an absolutely magnificent job in challenging circumstances.

We must, however, continue the fight against Tory cuts to our health services -; as well as fight to make sure that those who work within our NHS get the credit and respect they deserve.
