Last night, Julie attended a Ceilidh at Sunderland Minster as part of Christian Aid’s ‘Hunger for Justice’ campaign.  The campaign encouraged churches across the country to pray to tackle climate change and Rev Chris Howson arranged the Ceilidh to raise the profile of the campaign in Sunderland.

“As a Shadow Minister for Energy and Climate Change I am absolutely committed to tackling this issue and I am grateful for Rev Howson inviting me to this fantastic event.

“The Tory-led Government want to scrap the Climate Change Act and have appointed an Environment Secretary that denies climate change is taking place.  Climate change is real.  I believe that for the UK to fulfil its obligations in tackling this global problem, a Labour Government needs to be elected in 2015.”
