Julie questioned the Government on their cuts to solar power. Julie pointed out that, despite the Government’s ambition to see 20GW of solar pv by 2020, the reality does not match their rhetoric. The Government’s own impact assessment for the latest review of solar predicts that there could be a 30% reduction in projected deployment under the renewables obligations, which would be enough to power 400,000 homes. This is further evidence that they are more interested in appeasing right-wing backbench MPs than ensuring the UK’s long-term energy security.
