Julie visits Carillion as part of IPT Fellowship

Julie visited Carillion PLC at the Morpeth Bypass in Northumberland as part of her Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT) Fellowship. The Fellowship is designed to help Julie gain a better understanding of the housing, planning and construction sectors and assist her in her role as the Chair of the PLP Housing and Planning Committee.

Following the visit, Julie said:

"I was delighted to meet a number of Civil Engineering Apprentices who gave a presentation on their work and what they have learned throughout their apprenticeships with Carillion. We need more high-quality apprenticeships for young people. I also found out more about the work Carillion are doing on STEM with local schools.

Visiting the site and meeting the staff and apprentices was an extremely valuable experience for me, and one which will undoubtedly help me in my work in Sunderland and in Parliament."
