Today in Parliament I joined with colleagues to support our music venues.

Labour amendments to the Planning Bill will bring an ‘agent of change’ principle into UK law.

This would ensure that new developments near to music venues must shoulder responsibility for providing things like sound proofing, but new music venues in residential areas would be responsible for these costs.

The music industry has seen a sharp decline in the grassroots venues all over the UK, so I hope that this change will help protect live venues and ensure that they can continue to act as hubs for creativity and talent.
