Today I asked the Rt Hon Amber Rudd, Minister for Women and Equalities and Home Secretary, a question on equal pay for work of equal value during the debate in the House of Commons to celebrate Vote 100 and International Women’s Day.

It is a sad reality that today, more than 40 years after equal pay legislation became law, that we still have the situation where women in the workplace do not receive equal pay for work of equal value.

Work that I am currently involved in on the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee on which I serve has recently highlighted issues surrounding equal pay and the gender pay gap at the BBC.

Today is a day to celebrate women’s achievements across the world and highlight what we still have to achieve.
Let us celebrate women across the world -; Happy International Women’s Day.
