Julie visited the Tesco Sunderland Extra store on Newcastle Road to see the work being done by staff and volunteers, as part of their Neighbourhood Food Collection event.

The Neighbourhood Food Collection event is one of the many initiatives introduced by Tesco to help the local community. Latest figures show that a record amount of people have used food banks in the last year.

“While it was wonderful to witness the generosity of shoppers in Sunderland who donated products, it is a disgrace that food banks are needed in Britain in 2015.”
