Julie helped out a team of a team of nine young apprentices at Liebherr in Sunderland who are competing in the National Apprenticeship Service Brathay Challenge. Part of their challenge is to get MPs, MDs and councillors to do a job swap with an apprentice for a day.

Julie and Mayor of Sunderland, Barry Curran, visited the Liebherr plant at Deptford to see the continuation of the proud tradition our area has for producing good quality tradespeople.

On the afternoon, the roles were reversed and Liebherr apprentices, came to Julie’s constituency office in Norfolk Street to find out more about the role of an MP.

Following the job swap, Julie said:

“I have had the pleasure of visiting the Liebherr plant in Sunderland on several occasions and I have always been impressed by their commitment to ensuring that they provide quality apprenticeships for young people. I thoroughly enjoyed the job swap which allowed me to see how Liebherr is equipping young people with valuable skills.”
