It was an honour to read Ode to Remembrance and lay a wreath to the fallen during a Remembrance Assembly at Southmoor Academy today.

More than 25,000 Sunderland men stepped up to fight for King and Country in World War One. One in ten never saw their home town again – and many others suffered life-changing injuries.

It is almost a century since the Great War guns fell silent on November 11, 1918. The memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice should never be forgotten.
