Julie Elliott MP Standing up for Sunderland Central
This week in Parliament I met with students from the Monkwearmouth Academy who have been raising awareness of online safety in their school.
As part of the Be Strong Online Ambassador Programme, the students have been working hard to ensure that their peers know how to navigate the online world safely.
The internet is an increasingly significant part of young people’s lives, so work like this is more important than ever. It’s vital that young people know how to use things like social media and gaming platforms safely.
It was an absolute pleasure to meet with the students – I was really impressed by their knowledge of the online world and their enthusiasm for their work.
